I hope you enjoyed your Easter and ate plenty of Easter Eggs or chocolate things !
During Holy Week we learn of The Last Supper, the Crucifixion and the Resurrection. If you haven’t caught up with the Easter Story then do look up Mark Chapters 14, 15 and 16.
The Easter Story continues.
Risen from the Dead
Jesus appears to two of his followers as they were walking home from Jerusalem. They did not recognize him and asked him if he would like to eat with them. As Jesus blessed the bread and broke it the two men realised who he was. Then Jesus vanished. The two men rushed back to Jerusalem to tell their friends what had happened. As the men were telling their story Jesus suddenly appeared to them all, saying; “Peace be with you”. The disciples were really afraid as they thought they were seeing a ghost. “See and touch my hands and feet” said Jesus, showing them the nail marks. “Ghosts are not made of flesh and blood.” Then he sat and ate with them and they knew that this really was Jesus who was risen from the dead.
What an incredible story. Have you ever been so busy that you haven’t really looked at the person speaking to you and yet you have a feeling you know them really well ?
The words “Peace be with you” are so important and special. These words are saying let God’s rest, comfort, wholeness and assurance go with you.
- Draw a picture of a Dove, then draw large and small doves. Attach the doves to different lengths of thread. These can then be tied onto a coat hanger. You will then have a dove mobile.
- Peace – sit quietly and pray. Think about all the wonderful things in your life, all the beautiful times you have had. Write a prayer about Peace.
- For younger children. Find a paper plate and draw a happy face on one side and a sad face on the other side. This reminds us of how sad the disciples were and then how happy they felt when they knew Jesus was “Alive”
Enjoy the rest of your Easter Holiday. Take care.
