Hi Everyone,
I do hope you are all well.
Our theme this week is The Bible and Rainbow Colours.
This week I was able to go out more and during my journey to the supermarket I noticed the lovely rainbow pictures put in the windows of many houses. I expect you have all been painting your rainbows ! Rainbows are a sign of hope and promise.
We all remember the first rainbow God gave us, He promised a good future for Noah and his family after the terrible flood. God promised that never again would a flood destroy everything. Ref: Genesis chapters 6,7,8 & 9.
Here are some ways that colours link with ideas, biblical events and thoughts.
The colours of the rainbow are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple and violet.
Red: Reminds us of Christmas, the birth of Christ
Orange: Christingles, the oranges with the red band round the middle and the candles.
Yellow: Reminds us of creation – light also of good and evil, light and darkness.
Green: The world is clothed in green
Blue: Mary, mother of Jesus, gentleness, purity, love.
Purple: Royal, God the ruler of the world.
Violet: Represents truth and suffering. Our Christmas Advent wreath always has a pink candle in it.
Suggested activities:
- Add more ways in which each colour links with biblical thoughts.
- Draw or paint flowers showing each colour
- If you haven’t painted a rainbow yet why not have a go ?
- If you feel very adventurous build a paper ark and put a rainbow over it.
Please take a picture of your artwork or ideas and send it to the Sunday Stars link
Have fun, take care, love and best wishes.
Irene,
